Frame is circa 1880s, gilded with raised plaster detailing. Carvings are of a folk art style of angels and peacocks.
In the early 1900s Beck began painting a series of life-sized portraits of men who served in the American Civil War. Some of his works are housed in the
Smithsonian American Art Museum.
