McLemore Auction Company, LLC conducted the live charity auction for The Birdhouse Thing, a unique event that has become a favorite on the Nashville social scene. A benefit for the W. O. Smith Music School, The Birdhouse Thing showcased 150 artfully designed birdhouses available for purchase through both live and silent auction at the event or online at opryauction.com. Local artists, architects, celebrities, and public figures donated time and talents to decorate houses for the cause. Past participants included visual artists such as Lanie Gannon, Paul Harmon, Bob McGill, Bill Johnson, Malenda Trick, Herb Williams, and Edie Maney; celebrities such as Vince Gill, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Jimmy Wayne, Randy Travis, and Wynonna; and community leaders such as Governor Philip Bredesen and The Honorable Bill Purcell.

The Birdhouse Thing attracted over 400 people this year. In addition to the auction, attendees feasted on an outstanding selection of food and drink provided by a wide variety of Nashville’s hottest caterers, specialty food shops, and popular dining destinations.
